Waste Not

Hello and welcome to my blog. Protecting the environment is a hot topic at the moment. We all do our bit to recycle although sometimes it's not easy or even possible. Recently, I've got to thinking I could do more more to recycle kitchen waste.  Composting is an easy way to recycle kitchen and garden waste, and what you produce is great for your garden. Plus, it's an easy way to reduce what you sent to landfill. Compost should sit directly on soil, on a well-drained spot to let the worms break down the contents. You should add an equal mix of brown and green. Green materials are grass, uncooked fruit and veg leftovers. These provide nitrogen and moisture. Brown materials, newspapers cardboard, egg boxes and hedge trimmings, these allow air pocket's to form in the mixture and produce carbon. Every so often you should turn the compost with a fork to mix the contents and circulate air.
